Empowering kinksters at Threshold LA
Threshold LA was established in 1982 as an organisation helping pansexual people explore BDSM in a safe and consensual way.
Since then, it's been at the forefront of LA's kink community, holding community, educational, and members-only events for all kinksters, regardless of their background.
All events at Threshold LA are for the 18+, and there's a diverse variety on offer, all aimed at empowering individuals in their kink and fetish choices.
Events are held at the organisation's premises in North Hollywood and include explorations of female dominance, regular munches, and even a party aimed at the new generation of kinksters.
Additionally, Threshold LA offers classes and other educational events. As a non-profit organisation, it operates a community outreach program, working with doctors, therapists, politicians, and the police to educate them on all aspects of a kink and BDSM lifestyle. In doing so, the aim is to challenge prejudice and engender a safer, non-judgmental environment.
The Threshold LA website includes a fascinating history of the society. The organisation has consistently evolved over the years, and its premises now boasts a lounge, BDSM library, seven themed rooms, and a large play space.
LED lighting and air conditioning make for a comfortable, welcoming environment in which like-minded people can mix and mingle, forming meaningful connections.
You must be a member of Theshold LA, and the website explains how you can go about joining, and the many benefits that membership provides.
At time of writing, the society was accepting new members, and membership orientations were held twice monthly. At these hour-long sessions (which are not play parties or kink demonstrations) prospective members can learn more about Threshold LA.
Should you decided to join Threshold LA, membership gives you access to exclusive membership-only events and discounts on other events. The annual fee is $25.
There is a clear, strict code of conduct for parties, and rules on consent and confidentiality apply. Alcohol is not permitted. And while masturbation and the use of toys is permitted, other forms of sexual activity are not allowed. Full details are given in the rules and etiquette section of the society's website.
